Research

The focus of our Medicinal Chemistry Research Group at Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 is in the design and of new (chemical) bioactive compounds. The research group is situated in the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, and it is part of Rhodes 老虎机游戏_pt老虎机-平台*官网 Centre for Chemico- and Biomedicinal Research. Our early drug discovery endeavours involved malaria (Prof Heinrich Hoppe – RU & Dr Dale Taylor – UCT), trypanosomes (Prof Heinrich Hoppe – RU), breast cancer (Prof Adrienne Edkins & Dr Jo-Anne de la Mare - RU), trichonomiasis (Prof Kirkwood Land – UP, USA), schistosomiasis (Prof Cornor Caffrey – UCSA, USA) and tuberculosis (TB – Prof Digby Warner – UCT).
